As at May 2024, we’d ridden about 27,000 km.

How many countries have you cycled in on this trip?

How many gorillas have you seen?

On this trip, no live gorillas. We made an attempt to see some at Frankfurt zoo, but they were isolating due to Covid. We have seen 6 gorilla statues.

What inspires you?

Alcohol.

What do you miss the most?

Kat: Bierhaus and boxing.

Richard: Litter picking and football.

What will you miss the least?

Kat: Hazel and Glayne’s karaoke.

Richard: Stress.

Have you learned any languages?

Oui. Ich bin spaghetti sombrero, merci Toblerone.

How far do you travel in a day?

We average about 80km per day, but it depends on the terrain and how hungry I am.

How long per day do you spend cycling?

Usually between 6 and 9 hours a day. For the first few weeks it was more like 4 or 5 until we gradually got more used to it.

Where is the best food you’ve had?

Nepal, hands down.

What are you most looking forward to?

Me: Pies, cake and a new saddle.

Richard: Freedom, healthier knees and seeing more countries.

Do you have any super powers?

Yes. I sweat more than anyone on Earth and I can make traffic lights turn red.
