Montenegrin Beer

Nikšićko Pivo: Montenegrin Pale Lager 5% (Trebjesa Brewery)
Light but very hoppy. A little bit of citrus; quite grassy and floral. Crisp and refreshing. 6.5/10

Nikšićko Gold: Montenegrin Lager, 5.2% (Trebjesa Brewery)
Grass, hay and a nip of citrus. A little thick, but fairly crisp and clean. A touch smokey. A bit harsh and metallic on the finish. 4.5/10
Nikšićko Tamno: Montenegrin Schwarzbier, 6.2% (Trebjesa Brewery)
Hop-forward with sweet malt and molasses. Carbonation is very light as is the mouth feel. A background of roasted nuts. Tart on the finish, with a bitter aftertaste. 5.5/10

Vrhunski Magistar: Montenegrin Pale Lager 5% (Akademija Brewery)
Cereal (definitely cornflakes,) light honey. It’s softly carbonated, but full-bodied and more like a keller than a lager. Slightly grassy with a bit of hay. Lightly fruity – green apples and a twang of grapefruit. 7.5/10
Profesor Doktor: Montenegrin IPA 6% (Akademija Brewery)
Malty, buttery, caramel and toffee sweetness. Fruits are soft and unctuous: Apricots and dried stone fruits. Not a lot of bitterness here, but lots of depth. Quite stunning. 9/10
Mammut Prime: Montenegrin Kölsch, 4.2% (Trebjesa Brewery)
Quite assertively herbal and slightly spicy. Floral and citrusy, with some subtle pome fruits and black pepper. Very much on the dry side, but crisp and refreshing. 7/10
