Greek Beer

Mythos: Greek Pale Lager 4.7% (Mythos Breweries)
Lots of malty sweetness and skunky hops. Some white bread, cereal and a bit of lemon. Not as one dimensional as most lagers, and it’s a good choice on a hot day. 6.5/10
Alfa: Greek Pale Lager 5% (Athenian)
Very grainy and lots of skunky malt, a bit too much for my taste. It’s mildly sweet and quite herbal. A bit thin, but perfectly drinkable. 5/10
Kaiser Pilsner: Greek Pilsner, 5% (Mythos Breweries)
Grainy and grassy, with a light body and a dry, short finish. It’s quite hoppy and bitter with high carbonation. Good quality, but lacks some freshness and balance. 5/10
Fresh Chios Beer: Greek Amber Ale, 4.9% (Chios Microbrewery)
Very hoppy, malty and toasty, sliced through with some lovely fresh citrus, including some orange zest. Brown sugar sweetness with a hint of spice. It’s a lovely balance between a refreshing drink and something with a bit of body. 8/10
Chios IPA: Greek IPA, 6.3% (Chios Microbrewery)
A whiff of pine and pepper. Really fruity and fresh, with some funky esters in the background. There’s the usual citrus alongside some soft tropical fruits and peaches. Oily body and very soft carbonation. 7/10
Fix Hellas: Greek Lager 5% (Olympic Brewery)
Softer and more rounded than the usual crisp lagers, and more full-bodied. Rice and grains dominate, the hops is very much in the background. It’s on the sweet side, with a little bit of banana, which suits me and it goes really well with hefty winter food. There is a bit of a metallic taste in there though. 6/10
