Albanian Beer

Korça Blonde: Albanian Lager, 4.1% (Birra Korça)
It’s quite thin, as expected. Basic, but quite strong on the malt, but there’s a cardboard taste in there too and it has a very metallic finish. 4/10
Korça Dark: Albanian Dark Pilsner % (Birra Korça)
There’s quite a bit of coffee, and some rye bread. Malty, but a bit over-roasted and too bitter despite a dose of caramel. It’s unbalanced and quite thin. Highly carbonated. 4/10
Korça 01: Albanian Lager, 4.1% (Birra Korça)
Lots of grassy hops and slightly vegetal. It’s got some corn sweetness, but there’s some sourness on the finish and a copper twang. Carbonation is quite soft. 4/10
Elbar: Albanian Lager, 4.1% (Birra Korça)
Very basic and far too gassy. Very faint hops, some corn sweetness, but an overly bitter finish. 3/10
Kaon: Albanian Lager, 4.4% (Birra Kaon)
It’s soft and light-bodied, a little bit grassy and herbal. Quite a bit of barley, but not much depth. The carbonation is too high. 4/10
Kaon Light: Albanian Lager, 4% (Birra Kaon)
Light grain and hay, with some wet cardboard and a faint gravel taste that weighs it down. It’s not crisp and clean enough for a light beer.  3.5/10
Birra Tirana: Albanian Lager, 4% (Birra Tirana)
I knew instantly that this is the worst beer I have tried. Tastes industrial and off. I gave it one point for tasting vaguely of beer, one point for containing alcohol (I have low standards) and one point because Richard didn’t think it was as bad as I did. 3/10
